Type Anatomy Poster A

This project was part of my typographic posters assignment where I was assigned to create a type anatomy poster with a typeface of my choice using 1 typographic system.
Process
I started by drawing 25 sketches using different types of typographic systems. Afterwards I would seek feedback from my peers and the professor to choose my top 3 designs.

My 3 designs

On Adobe Illustrator, I quickly recreated my 3 designs onto Adobe Illustrator to determine which design to move forward with. I initially went with the 3rd design.

1st Iteration
While this design utilized the 6 'a's, a requirement for the poster, meaningfully, the main issue was the hierarchy and confusion on how to read the poster.
I attempted to retain the original design and improve the design's legibility, but ultimately decided to go back to the drawing board.
Final
I went with this design, which uses the axial typographic system. To improve upon the original rendition, I defined the type anatomy terms using the name of the font instead of the pangram. I rearranged the placement of pangram and designer names to remain consistent with the axial system. Additionally, I enlarged the 6 'a's and toned them down around the typeface name instead of sticking them in a corner.
